The department offers degrees in Film and Television Studies as well as Journalism, ranging from BA degrees through to PhD level. The Department aims to play a critical role in both the University and the wider society by contributing to debates on the role of journalism, film and television in shaping society, as well as producing well-trained graduates that a relevant to these fast-changing cultural industries.

Responsibilities:

  • Oracle: temporary appointments and claims.
  • Correspondence with postgraduate students.
  • NFR applications and reports.
  • Processing of DHET documentation.
  • Travel arrangements and appointment of staff.
  • Organising of social functions and seminars.
  • Managing prescribed book list.
  • Minute taking at staff meetings.
  • Internship coordination.
  • Media and partnership liaison.
  • General secretarial, financial management and administrative duties
  • Matric + NQF5 qualification.
  • At least 2 years admin experience.

Competencies and Behavioural Attributes:

  • Administrative proficiency in a University setting.
  • Competent writing and note taking skills.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines.
