Lesotho Communications Authority (LCA) is the regulatory body for the communications sector in Lesotho. Following the adoption of the Lesotho Telecommunications Policy of 1999, the Authority was established by an Act of Parliament in 2000. Presently, the Authority operates under the Communications Act of 2012 for the regulation of information and Communications Technologies (ICT), Broadcasting and Postal Services.
The LCA invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Administrative Assistant for the Economic Sector Division (AA-ESD).
Purpose of the position and reporting
The incumbent will be responsible for scheduling meetings, taking notes and handling correspondence on behalf of the Chief Economic Affairs Officer and the managers of the Economic Sector Division. The position reports directly to the Chief Economic Affairs Officer.
Key responsibilities
The successful candidate will, amongst others:
- Prepare, type, format and edit documents within ESD
- Maintain and update a systematic and accessible filing system of all office documents
- Coordinates, schedules and manages CEAO’s appointments and diary
- Manages internal and external correspondence on behalf of CEAO and the division
- Initiates procurement processes of the ESD
- Receives, registers and uploads tariff related correspondence in the tariff database and any other correspondence.
- Performs any other relevant duties that may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should possess a Diploma in Business Administration or Management with a minimum of three (3) years working experience with basic knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures, computers and relevant software applications and customer service principles and practices.
Competencies
Applicants should possess the following skills:
- Good communication skills both written and verbal in English and Sesotho
- Extensive experience in creating documents and spreadsheets using MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Proficiency in appointment scheduling software such as MS Outlook as well as call forwarding
- Ability to multitask and prioritise daily workload
- Working knowledge of printers, copiers, scanners and fax machines
- Advanced typing, note-taking, recordkeeping, and organizational skills.
