The newly-established Johannesburg Business School (JBS), within the College of Business and Economics at the University of Johannesburg, focuses on developing individuals to grow small and medium businesses. Entrepreneurship, innovation and technology are at the centre of JBS’ positioning in the future world of business in Africa.

The JBS’ focus is on adopting a global mindset with a deep appreciation of the African context, where the growth of small and medium businesses are integral to solving unemployment, inequality and underdevelopment. The JBS prepares future small and medium businesses through a unique combination of practical engagements, coaching, mentorship and the human ability to reposition in a changing global environment.

You are invited to become part of the JBS journey, focusing on enabling and empowering people who want to grow a business, to take a small business to the next level, and to innovate and grow in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Adjunct lecturers appointed to the JBS would need to possess suitable qualifications and experience in order to implement JBS’ strategic intent. Specifically, adjunct lecturers would need to:

  • Possess an MA Degree.
  • Have specific Business/Small to Medium Enterprises experience (working in, or consulting with SMEs).
  • Be prepared to work outside of working hours, as teaching and activities often takes place then.
  • Develop and design appropriate modules in 2019 for presentation in 2020.

The JBS aims to appoint Adjunct Faculty in the areas of –

  • People Management.
  • Competitive strategy: Winning in the Market Place.
  • Accounting and Financial Management.
  • ICT Driven Decision-making in the 4th Industrial Revolution.
  • Operations and Supply Chain Management.
  • Economics and International Business.
  • Contemporary Management.

Recommendations:

  • Teaching experience, preferably at a Higher Education Institution.
  • A track record of post-graduate research supervision and publication in the relevant field.
  • Proven record of engagement with the scholarship of teaching, e.g. teaching evaluation or relevant portfolio.
  • Innovative teaching techniques incorporating technology.
  • Able to teach medium to large groups (± 50 to 150).
