The Institute of Development Management (IDM) is a public institution of higher learning accredited by the Ministry of Education and Training and regulated by the Council on Higher Education (CHE). IDM delivers management development services through Education, Training, Research and Consultancy (ETRC) in the fields of Business Information and Resource Management, Human Resource Management & Organizational Development, and Public Health Management.

THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE POSITION OF ACCOUNTS OFFICER
Key Responsibilities
- Provide financial and administrative support within the Finance Department.
- Capture, process, and reconcile financial transactions using SAGE.
- Assist with budgeting, financial reporting, and audit preparation.
- Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
- Process payments, receipts, and financial reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and statutory requirements.
- Support day-to-day finance operations and internal controls.
Key Competencies
- Sound knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in SAGE accounting software.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and numerical ability.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Receive and verify invoices and requisitions for goods and services and posting of those invoices.
- Processing of payments and verification that transactions comply with financial policies and procedures.
- Ensure that all purchase requisitions have quotations, orders, goods received note and invoice.
- Process accounts payable monthly (data entry, verification, reconciling, updating).
- Process monthly payroll.
- Record and post all cheques into the cash book.
- Maintain the general ledger.
- Maintain and update the fixed asset register.
- Ensure that Pastel is updated with invoices and receipts from debtors.
- Receipting and posting of receipts.
- Posting of debtors’ invoices and issuing of debits and credit notes.
- Review and reconcile debtors’ accounts daily.
- Reconcile the debtors age analysis with the General Ledger.
- Review staff debtors on monthly basis, and ensure that all amounts due are recovered after every payroll run.
- Ensure staff debtors do not have arrears.
- Perform daily banking.
- Process general ledger reconciliation.
- Undertake any other related duties as required to meet the needs of IDM.
Minimum Requirements
- Diploma in Accounting Studies.
- At least two (2) years’ relevant work experience.
- Knowledge of SAGE accounting software.
