VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Position: Accounts Officer
Duty Station: Maseru
The Directorate of Dispute Prevention and Resolution (DDPR) invites applications from suitably qualified Basotho candidates for the position of Accounts Officer.
Reporting Line
The successful candidate will report to the Finance Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Daily maintenance of the petty cash book
- Daily reconciliation of all revenue collected, checking balances against accounting records
- Preparation and coordination of deposit activities
- Assisting the Accountant with monthly bank reconciliation statements
- Checking, verifying, and processing invoices
- Performing proper manual and electronic filing
- Assisting with month-end reporting procedures
- Collecting money from debtors of settlement agreements and arbitration awards and issuing receipts
- Making payments to creditors of settlement agreements and arbitration awards
- Supporting the Finance Manager and Accountant in related activities as assigned
Job Qualifications and Specifications
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) with at least two (2) years’ relevant working experience, OR
- Diploma in a related field with at least three (3) years’ relevant working experience
- Affiliation with a recognised accounting body
- Strong planning and organisational skills
- High attention to detail
- Problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team
- Customer service orientation
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, preferably spreadsheets and Word
