Position: Accountant

Transformation Resource Centre (TRC) invites suitably qualified, self-driven, and competent and results oriented candidate to apply for the above-mentioned position. 

Job purpose

Reporting to the Finance & Admin Manager, duties of the incumbent include preparing asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analysing accounts information. Document financial transactions by entering accounts information. Recommends financial actions by analysing accounting options that should inform management decision.

Educational qualifications and related experience

  • Minimum bachelor’s degrees in accounting and/or General Accounting (GA) plus 2 years minimum post-qualification experience.
  • Successful track record in accounting
  • Previous experience in the financial and administration of complex organisational projects
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent planner and strategic thinker.
  • Excellent risk management and cost control skills.
  • Applicants must be a member of the Lesotho Institute of Accountants (LIA).

Responsibilities

  • Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analysing TRC financial accounts information.
  • Documents financial transactions by entering accounts information.
  • Recommends financial actions by analysing accounting options.
  • Summarizes current financial status by collecting information, preparing balance sheet, annual financial statements statement, and other reports.
  • Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents.
  • Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.
  • Guides all programmes / project staff by ensuring that all activities executed under auspices of TRC are fully accounted for.
  • Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analysing transaction information.
  • Secures financial information by completing data base backups.
  • Maintains financial security by following internal controls.
  • Prepares payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements.
  • Answers accounting procedure questions based on TRC policy and regulations as well as international accounting standards.
  • Monitors TRC compliance with financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
  • Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analysing, and summarizing accounts information and trends.
