Who may enter
Entries are welcome from writers anywhere in the world. There is no age limit.

Description
The competition is organized by Australian Book Review.

Entries must be a single story of 2,000 to 5,000 words, written in English. Stories can be on any subject and in any style.

Entries must be submitted online.

The 2019 judges are Maxine Beneba Clarke, John Kinsella, and Beejay Silcox.

Entry fees
Current ABR subscriber: AU$15
Full-time student: AU$15
Standard/non subscriber: AU$25

Prizes
• 1st prize: AU$5,000
• 2nd prize: AU$3,000
• 3rd prize: AU$2,000
• The three commended stories will share the remaining $2,500 in prize money.

The three shortlisted stories will be published in the August 2019 issue, both in the print edition and ABR Online.
