Artists of all nationalities are invited to participate. Every candidate is allowed to submit only one brand-new work.
The first prize, awarded by the competition jury, is 2,500 Euro and an invitation for a solo exhibition at the Tapirulan Gallery, with the publication of the personal catalogue.
“Don’t stop me now”, sang Freddie Mercury at the top of his lungs, “Cause I’m having a good time”. However, the Tapirulan Association is asking artists, illustrators and cartoonists to stop and take part in the 17th edition of the Illustration Competition, whose theme is STOP.
It will be said, quite rightly, that there have been enough stops during this difficult period: no more going out, no more meetings with friends and family, no more concerts, fairs, festivals and shows…
Still, stopping is not always harmful; sometimes it can save us from dangerous situations, or it can make us grow and ponder, because, as the poet Guillaume Apollinaire said, “Now and then it’s good to pause in our pursuit of happiness and just be happy”.
All selected authors will have their work exhibited in Italy, in Cremona, from 14 May 2022 to 26 June 2022. Twelve (12) of the selected authors will have their work included in the Tapirulan calendar 2022.
The purpose of the Tapirulan contest is not only to award an illustrator, but also to produce an exciting exhibition, attract visitors and focus public attention on illustration as a profession. A rich and colorful exhibition made up of three sections: the 48 images selected by the jury, the winning illustrations from previous editions, and finally, the work of the special guest illustrator who chaired the Jury. The result is an exhibition of approximately 250 artworks.
