The 10th Istanbul Photo Awards, a prestigious international news photography contest, is proudly presented by Anadolu Ajansi, a global news agency with over a century of experience. This eminent contest opens its doors to professional photographers from all corners of the world, inviting them to showcase their talent and courage through their camera lenses. The Istanbul Photo Awards, established to enrich the world of news photography, offers a unique perspective that reflects the confluence of diverse cultures, a testament to the agency’s rooted presence in a region that stands at the crossroads of myriad civilizations.

The competition has gained notable recognition globally, marking its place as one of the most acclaimed news photography contests. The contest’s categories are thoughtfully designed to encompass various aspects of news photography, from hard-hitting news and sports to nature and daily life. This year’s jury includes NOOR Agency photojournalist Yuri Kozyrev, The Globe and Mail photojournalist Goran Tomasevic, National Geographic photographer, filmmaker Ami Vitale, photojournalist Carol Guzy, visual storyteller Marion Mertens, visual media consultant Michel Scotto, Getty Images Chief Sports Photojournalist Cameron Spencer, photojournalist Ahmet Sel, and Firat Yurdakul, Visual News director of Anadolu.

There are four supporter firms for the 10th year: Turkish technology firm Turkcell, Sony, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), and Turkish Airlines, the nation’s flag carrier.

There is no entry fee.

Eligibility

Open worldwide to professional photographers, both freelancers and those affiliated with a company or agency.

Prize

The contest has a total prize pool worth $60,000, distributed across different categories and special awards. The first, second, and third place winners receive $3,000, $1,500, and $1,000 USD respectively. The Single News 1st prize winner is nominated as “Photo of the Year,” receiving a total of $6,000 USD. Additionally, two special tenth-anniversary prizes of $1,000 USD each will be awarded for selected works from all series category submissions. In addition to the awards, this year the first prize winners of all categories will be awarded SONY Alpha A7 III Body cameras.
