𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐇𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐍𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 (𝐌𝐇𝐍𝐒)

𝐏𝐔𝐑𝐏𝐎𝐒𝐄 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐉𝐎𝐁:

The MHNS has to operationalize and oversee managerial functionalities to achieve effective and efficient nursing services.

𝐉𝐎𝐁 𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐘:

The incumbent will be responsible for the planning, organising, directing and evaluation of nursing services programme of the hospital.

𝐃𝐔𝐓𝐈𝐄𝐒 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐏𝐎𝐍𝐒𝐈𝐁𝐈𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐄𝐒:

𝟏. 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬:

– To initiate formulation of nursing policies.

– To participate in planning and setting of health facilities.

– To consolidate hospital nursing budget and plans.

– To supervise and appraise CDNS to ensure provision of quality services

– To oversee implementation of high standards of nursing care.

– To ensure adequate, efficient and appropriate nursing care to patients.

– To compile quarterly and annual reports and submit to Hospital Management.

– To schedule and convene meetings with other heads of departments.

– To participate in meetings with other heads of departments.

– To develop nursing procedures in terms of policies and philosophy.

– To recommend review of nursing standards to Hospital Management.

𝟐. 𝐂𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐍𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬:

– To liaise with Nurses Training Institutions in the development of nursing staff.

– To collaborate with NTI’s for facilitation of quality clinical practices.

– To collaborate with NGO’s and government for implementation of nursing activities.

– To recommend to the Hospital Management, the national and international professional bodies that enhance growth of nursing

– To collaborate with Manager Public Health Nursing to harmonise nursing services in the district.

3. Development of Nursing Services

– To consolidate training plans from different units within the hospital.

– To collaborate with Human Resource department in the implementation of training plan.

– To coordinate planning and implementation of in-service education for development of nursing and auxiliary personnel.

– To allocate Continuous Professional Development (CPD) points.

– To interview senior nursing personnel for purposes of counselling appointments, transfers and termination of services.

– To initiate research to promote evidence based nursing care.

𝐉𝐎𝐁 𝐒𝐏𝐈𝐂𝐈𝐅𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍:

Degree in Nursing plus Diploma in General Nursing and Diploma in Midwifery plus 3 years’ experience in managerial position.

OR

Degree in Nursing (Generic) + postgraduate/post basic diploma in nursing administration plus 5 years working experience in managerial position.

𝐎𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐍𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝.

– Computer literacy

– Interpersonal skills

– Flexibility and adoptability

– Self-motivation, action and quality oriented.

– Professional affiliation with the Lesotho Nursing Council (LNC)
