An opportunity exists in Minopex Lesotho, Letšeng Site, to fill the positions of a Training Officer.

JOB PURPOSE:

The purpose of this position is to support management in identifying training needs and co-ordinate training interventions that will equip employees with knowledge, skills and motivation to carry out their work, and also ensure competency at all levels.

MAIN FUNCTIONS:

     Conduct annual skills audits and assessments of employees; assessing the skills and knowledge

within the plant and determining what training is needed to grow and retain these skills, then consult with Supervisors, Human Resources Manager, and Site Manager regularly.
 Develop  skills  matrix  from  the  above  audits  and  assessments  highlighting  skills  gaps  and subsequent intervention strategy.

     Develop and expand training and development programs based on the risks and needs of the Plant and the individuals, and co-ordinate appropriate training, by the accredited institutions, in compliance with the ISO 9001 and ISO 45000 standards.

     Manage the Skills Development Training and Learnership program and review the progress of trainees  through means  of questionnaire, forums,  observations  and  discuss  with  respective Supervisors, HR Manager and Plant Manager.

     Co-ordinate establishment of Safe Work Procedures (SWP’s) that are also in line with best practices for all tasks, develop training matrix and ensure that Planned Task Observations (PTO’s) are conducted and records maintained.

     Ensure that statutory training requirements are met, including but not limited to Health and Safety, operators and drivers training and license renewals.

     Liaise with Group Training and Development Manager to report content and skills deficits in order to rectify with appropriate training.

     Ensure that high quality of training is provided at all times, and the cost of training is aligned within the prescribed budget.

     Prepare progress reports for management team, and other reports as may be required.

QUALIFCATIONS AND MINIMUM REQUIREMENT:

     COSC + Certificate in Training and Development.

     Assessor’s Certificate.

     A valid trade certificate in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering will be an added advantage.

    Valid driver’s licence.

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND TRAINING:

     Minimum 3 years in a training environment (Mining / Industrial will be an added advantage).

      English Language Proficiency

      Good computer skills

      Good analytical skills
