Sesali Retreats

Sesali Retreats is a holistic healing branch created from the MadhouseRain Company Tree by Nthabiseng Mohanela, co-founder and director of Madhouserain. Sesali Retreats started late in the year 2018 in Morija.

This platform was created for establishing healing and safe spaces for women. It first started out as a gathering by the bonfire during full moons celebrations, in an open forest hut (home) yard hidden in the sacred paths of Morija village and located along side some of the historical places of Morija.

These spaces were created due to the alarming rape and violence cases against women and children in and around our country, Lesotho. Women are afraid of walking, not only at night but during daytime as well. Women are filled with fear for their children due to the pressing issues that men place on them either in their homes or in society.

In these gathering we unpack these heavy topics and work at finding creative solutions to deal constructively towards a more peaceful state of mind as well as environment.

The retreats host up to 10 ladies, providing them with self defense lessons, healthy organic meals, a day at the Morija Art Centre where they can learn some crafty skills, yoga and meditation. The group usually gathers by the fire to discuss, laugh and sometime get really deep about their wounds. This is truly a safe space for these women.

Sesali retreats has yet organised another healing and fun excursion just outside the borders of Lesotho, by the Drakensburg ranges at a place called Upper Bergview Farm, Kwazulu Natal. This event will be on the 27th to the 29th September 2019.

The retreat will be filled with Spiritual Hikes, a day at the Dharmagiri Retreats in Underberg and live Performances by our sensational Music bird Leomile and a South African Ladies Band called Rainbow Abomination. We also pride ourselves in the health aspect of our retreats regarding food and yoga activities as well as doing Art Therapy Sessions.

The ladies will be hosted in a beautiful loft at the farm, with lovely facilities including beds and blankets as well as warm showers. The group will be taken to a nearby Hotel where all the performances will take place as well as meeting and sharing with local women of the area.

Sesali Retreats is open to hosting women from inside and outside Lesotho and for Basotho entries, they will provide a return bus ticket at an Amount of R/M1500 (all inclusive), while entries from RSA and other neighbouring country will be required to invest an amount of R/M1200 which does not include transport.

From their previous retreats they have extracted comments and remarks from the ladies who came through.

Paballo Tlhaole, One of the ladies that attended and won their retreat ticket, also the creative force behind SpiralTravels and SheHikes said, “Winning a ticket was such a gift to my well-being, the retreat was filled with beautiful elements of learning how to self defend. The food and the silent Hiking session was amazing too. I thoroughly enjoyed the food aspect as we shared recipes and learning about time management hacks”

Another lady who attended the retreat, Mmalimpho Setipa-Peete said, “ Thank you so much for the camp retreat, this weekend was such an eye opener for me as i have this fear of sleeping in the dark, but this weekend, I not only did i sleep in the dark but outside in a tent. I’m so proud of all of us including myself”

Duduzile Hoohlo also shared, “Thank you so much for such retreats, they are so helpful, especially the sisterhood circle. We will definitely keep in touch as I have new sisters now.”
