Liqhobong Mining Development Company (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Firestone Diamonds PLC, invites suitably qualified, self-driven, results oriented and competent Basotho to apply for the vacant position of Grade Controller.
To track mining in the open pit and ensure efficient loading and hauling of ore to the Processing plant and efficient collection of data relevant for updating the ore body model.
Under the direct supervision of the Mine Geologist, the incumbent will carry out the following duties and responsibilities;
Inspect muck pile after every blast, map and record areas of treatable and contaminated ore, in alignment with the department’s predetermined proportions;
Demarcate areas where external dilution exceeds the required ratio and ensure that the material is loaded separately and hauled to the correct destination;
Monitor loading and hauling operations to ensure no ore is being taken to the waste dump
Report observed deviations to the relevant department for corrective action;
Collect run of mine samples and perform measurements as instructed by Mine Geologist and document the relevant results as required;
Maintain working relations with the miner to ensure that a particular ore type is taken to the processing plant as scheduled.
Monitor and log blast hole chips and capture all the relevant grade control data
Mapping of all geological and geotechnical features and update plans
Report fortnightly on ore type characteristics
Ensure compliance to SHE programmes and security practices;
Comply with the relevant mining and MRM procedures and guidelines
Ensure that risk assessments are conducted prior to commencing manual duties.
Perform any other duties as instructed by the Mine Geologist.
Legal and other requirements
Police clearance and medical examinations of fitness.
Qualifications and experience
Exposure to kimberlite geology;
1 year exposure to open pit mining and ore processing environment;
Diploma in Geology.

Monitoring and communication skills
Valid Lesotho driver’s license
