The Digital Lab Africa call for projects targets artists, producers, designers, start-ups, students in the media and creative industries. The call is open to anyone from Sub-Saharan Africa having an innovative project in 5 categories of multimedia production : web creation, virtual reality, video game, animation and digital music.
DLA is looking for projects at initial stage of development, in need of partners and financial support and innovativein terms of narration, content or technologies.
Digital Lab Africa: the reference platform for next-gen content
The objective of Digital Lab Africa is to provide a springboard for African talent in multimedia creation and to make their project happen with the support of French & Sub-Saharan African leading companies (studios, producers, broadcasters, distributors, experts).
Digital Lab Africa Call for Projects
The Digital Lab Africa call for projects targets artists, producers, designers, startups, students in the media and creative industries. The call is open to any professional or individual from Sub-Saharan Africa having an innovative project in 5 categories of multimedia production: web creation/transmedia, virtual reality, video game, animation and digital music.
Digital Lab Africa Incubation Pass
Selected applicants will take part in a Pitch Competition. The winning projects win a 42,000 rands cash prize and a Digital Lab Africa Incubation Pass to accelerate the project’s development.
The DLA Incubation Pass includes:
- mentorship and project development support by experts from France and Sub-Saharan African countries
- residence time in France within digital cluster
- participation at international industry events.
The expected outcome of Digital Lab Africa is market ready content/productions showcasing African creativity.
Created in 2016, Digital Lab Africa is an initiative of the French Institute and the French Embassy in South Africa, managed by the South African innovation hub Tshimologong Digital Innovation Precinct since 2018. The program is supported by Agence Française de Développement (AFD), SACEM, Lagardère Studios, TRACE, DISCOP and a number of French and sub-Saharan African partners.
