Cape Mental Health: Assistant Event Organiser


Cape Mental Health, a nonprofit organisation that offers a comprehensive mental health service in the Western Cape.

Cape Mental Health seeks to employ an Assistant Event Organiser, to be based in Cape Town.

This is a 12 months contract for a full-time 40-hour week


  • Relevant tertiary qualification
  • Minimum of five years’ successful event organising experience and good references
  • Sound knowledge of current legislation governing special events
  • Ability to assist with operational planning and implementation of events
  • Computer and communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and manage a number of different task teams
  • Ability to design and develop sponsorships packages and secure sponsors
  • Possess a valid manual driver’s license (own transport a recommendation)
  • Be willing to work overtime as required and the full weekend of the Cape Town International Kite Festival
  • Respect diversity and understand the challenges facing NGOs
  • Take responsibility for event coordination/logistics and implementation
  • Anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, and meet deadlines with little supervision
  • Ability to function as a member of a team, yet operate independently and responsibly
  • Pay attention to detail, be target-driven, and have good time-management skills
  • Ability work with budgets, track expenses, deal with suppliers/vendors
  • Give input into event/sponsor contracts and marketing materials as required
  • Display accountability to all stakeholders and sponsors
  • Be professional in manner, appearance and work ethic, and work well under pressure
